Can a G1 driver drive at night?

Short answer

A G1 driver must not drive between midnight and 5 a.m. Other G1 conditions still apply at all permitted times.

Make it practical

What to do

Practise legal night driving before midnight once your basic control is solid, including glare management, headlight use and seeing pedestrians in dark clothing.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Using the midnight limit as a reason to avoid all night practice until after the road test.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Put the official requirement into a simple timeline, including eligibility, waiting periods and your expiry date. Administrative surprises are rarely educational.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
