How should I choose a driving school in Ontario?

Short answer

Start with Ontario’s approved-school list, then compare the exact location, instructor availability, written policies, recent independent reviews and what the quoted price actually includes.

Make it practical

What to do

Ask for the course outline, total after-tax price, lesson length, pickup policy, cancellation rules, certification timing and road-test vehicle fee in writing.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Picking the largest star rating without reading recent low reviews or confirming that reviews refer to the same branch and instructors.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Ask the same written questions of two or three approved providers. Comparable answers reveal far more than a star score floating without context.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
