Questions / G2 road test
Answer first · reviewed August 2026
How many mistakes are allowed on the G2 test?
Ontario does not give learners a simple public ‘X mistakes equals fail’ rule. Severity, safety risk and repeated patterns matter; a dangerous action is not equivalent to a slightly untidy park.
Make it practical
What to do
Read the result by skill category and focus on safe, consistent driving instead of counting imagined points while you drive.
Easy to miss
The common trap
Relaxing after deciding you still have three mistakes left—or panicking because you think the first one ended everything.
Turn knowledge into a habit
How to practise it
Practise the skill on several unfamiliar roads until you can perform it safely without a prompt. The route can change; the habit must travel with you.
When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
