Questions / G2 road test
Answer first · reviewed August 2026
What is on the Ontario G2 road test?
The G2 road test assesses basic city-driving skills: safe starts and stops, turns, intersections, lane changes, observation, speed control, parking, reversing and roadside manoeuvres.
Make it practical
What to do
Practise the complete drive, including leaving and returning to a busy parking lot. Examiners assess the boring bits too; boring and safe is the dream.
Easy to miss
The common trap
Training only on parallel parking while observation and right-of-way remain inconsistent.
Turn knowledge into a habit
How to practise it
Practise the skill on several unfamiliar roads until you can perform it safely without a prompt. The route can change; the habit must travel with you.
When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
