Questions / G2 road test

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

Is parallel parking always on the G2 test?

Short answer

Parallel parking is a testable skill, but the exact manoeuvres sampled can vary. Be prepared for parallel or reverse parking and do not gamble on a particular route report.

Make it practical

What to do

Use several spaces and vehicles as references. Learn safe setup and correction rather than one magic steering count.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Believing one centre ‘never asks’ and arriving with a skill you have avoided.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Practise the skill on several unfamiliar roads until you can perform it safely without a prompt. The route can change; the habit must travel with you.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
