Questions / G2 road test

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

What if I miss the examiner’s turn?

Short answer

Missing a direction is usually safer than forcing an unsafe manoeuvre. Continue legally and let the examiner redirect you.

Make it practical

What to do

If an instruction is unclear, ask for it to be repeated. The test measures driving, not psychic navigation.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Braking hard or cutting across a lane to prove you heard the instruction.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Practise the skill on several unfamiliar roads until you can perform it safely without a prompt. The route can change; the habit must travel with you.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
