Questions / Nerves and retests

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

What should I do about road-test anxiety the night before?

Short answer

Stop cramming early, confirm documents and vehicle, eat normally and sleep. Anxiety is uncomfortable, not proof that you are unprepared.

Make it practical

What to do

Use one short checklist and a familiar warm-up plan. Your brain does not need seventeen new parking videos at midnight.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Turning the final evening into a five-hour emergency lesson.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Use one mock-drive routine and one written improvement list. A smaller plan gives anxiety fewer loose objects to throw around the cabin.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
