Questions / Nerves and retests

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

Should I tell the examiner I am nervous?

Short answer

You may briefly say you are nervous, but the examiner still has to assess the same skills. A simple statement is enough; no opening monologue is required.

Make it practical

What to do

Ask for clear repetition when needed and then focus on driving.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Trying to win leniency instead of demonstrating safe decisions.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Use one mock-drive routine and one written improvement list. A smaller plan gives anxiety fewer loose objects to throw around the cabin.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
