Questions / Nerves and retests

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

Should I change DriveTest centres after failing?

Short answer

Change centres for practical reasons such as availability or location, not because review scores promise easier examiners. The same unsafe habit can fail beautifully in every postal code.

Make it practical

What to do

Read the report, fix the skill and practise unfamiliar roads so a new centre is not an extra burden.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Using pass-rate history as a substitute for readiness.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Use one mock-drive routine and one written improvement list. A smaller plan gives anxiety fewer loose objects to throw around the cabin.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
