Questions / Booking and test day

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

Can someone come with me to the road test?

Short answer

Someone may accompany you to the centre and can be important for getting home if you do not pass. Only the applicant and examiner normally ride in the vehicle during the test.

Make it practical

What to do

Bring a calm support person who can legally drive the vehicle if needed.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Bringing a committee that turns the parking lot into a pregame show.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Rehearse the logistics once: route to the centre, check-in information, vehicle controls and the backup plan if the test cannot proceed.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
