Questions / Booking and test day

Answer first · reviewed August 2026

How early should I arrive for an Ontario road test?

Short answer

Ontario’s handbook tells road-test applicants to arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointment. Follow any centre-specific check-in instructions in your confirmation.

Make it practical

What to do

Fuel, washroom, mirrors and seat position should be settled before the check-in window. Early is prepared; three hours early is a picnic.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Arriving on the property early but joining the check-in process too late.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Rehearse the logistics once: route to the centre, check-in information, vehicle controls and the backup plan if the test cannot proceed.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
