Questions / G road test

Answer first · reviewed August 25, 2026

Is Ontario’s G road test still modified in 2026?

Short answer

Yes. As of August 25, 2026, DriveTest says the modified G road test remains in place until further notice at full-time centres. Part-time travel points continue to use the standard G test.

Make it practical

What to do

For a full-time centre, prepare for major roads, expressway driving, merging, lane changes, turns and intersections. The temporary format omits parallel parking, roadside stops, three-point turns and residential driving already tested at G2. Recheck DriveTest close to your appointment.

Easy to miss

The common trap

Using an old video without checking whether it describes a full-time centre, travel point or previous test format.

Turn knowledge into a habit

How to practise it

Build real highway repetition with a qualified supervisor. Merge, change lanes, follow and exit in different traffic instead of saving the entire experience for one mock test.

When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
