Questions / G road test
Answer first · reviewed August 2026
What is on the Ontario G road test?
The G test assesses more advanced, independent driving and includes higher-speed or expressway skills such as merging, lane changes, spacing and exiting, plus major-road and intersection decisions.
Make it practical
What to do
Build enough highway practice that acceleration, scanning and gap selection feel ordinary before adding test pressure.
Easy to miss
The common trap
Treating the G as the G2 with one quick highway lap.
Turn knowledge into a habit
How to practise it
Build real highway repetition with a qualified supervisor. Merge, change lanes, follow and exit in different traffic instead of saving the entire experience for one mock test.
When a rule, road sign or examiner instruction conflicts with an internet tip, use the official rule and the safe decision. The internet has many talents; wearing a reflective examiner vest is not one of them.
